To love or not to love my home..

I want to take every piece of furnishing and decor from my home and throw it away. I'm past the point of really caring about owning a home. I don't mind renting as much. However, renting a smelly old home that has filthy carpeting and broken tiles in the kitchen (not too mention so many other aging house issues...) has really gotten to me. I was just wasting some time reading this post on this blog and couldn't help but feel a little discouraged. Maybe in my spare time this weekend I'll take down all my dark frames from my brown and gold room and try something completely new. Oh, how I love color. I've always used the, "It's not in the budget" excuse for not decorating my "rentals". Gotta stop doing that..

(side note: I WILL be going in to get an MRI on my knee. Still can't straighten it out completely. Hope to have some news of what's going on!!)

I once heard, "take it room by room, until you are satisfied with one room, don't feel like you need to rush off to the next". Do you use/have you heard of freecycle.org? I meant to email you about it if you hadn't. Its great, people post stuff the want to get rid of (that is usable) and you can also request stuff that you want people to give to you for free- I've gotten bathroom shelves, curtains, kid toys, a hiking backpack... it would be great to get some of your "decor" stuff for free! Good luck!

Also, I have been babysitting a few evenings a week (1 child, at my house) to help me pay for some of the "nicer" things I want -- its started to add up. I like to improve the house with that $$...

Hey Darla! I meant to write a note back. I just read this post and I have to say that I have felt the same about renting and not spending money to change things, but this past month I re-did my bathroom and thanks to my mom my room has new bedding. It makes me feel like a new woman! I needed that.

Okay so we are actually moving this summer. Steve finishes his PhD and we are off to Chicago. Steve will work at the Field Museum and we'll actually get a paycheck. Where are you guys living? I can totally see you doing awesome things with your house. You always look stylish. Oh and whenever I'm sad that I don't owe a house I look at my kids. :)

First, I hope you will re-post your wonderful green piano! The photos that are at the top of your blog, aren't ones that we can review later. So...don't forget to add the piano again. I'm so sorry that your leg didn't heal properly, but thank heavens you have a good Dr. who is taking care of you!! I don't know what our healthcare will be like in a few years in this country. Your R.S. "women at the well" is wonderful. I've seen it in some ward before. maybe Littleton. Congrats, and it must have been ALOT of work. We love you Darla ps. When I started piano lessons, the money earned (in PH) was mine to use for decor. (I bought my first pair of new lamps. the shell ones)
