Geof.'s NOT lazy..., just so you know.

Geof. ran the Monument Avenue 10K for me this year. He did amazing...no surprise. When I told him he was a natural runner, though, it bugged him. (??) Sorry, Geof. You ARE a great runner and no, you didn't train for the race, so be satisfied that it's just plain easy for you to do anything active. This doesn't mean you sit around on the couch all day and then get up and decided to run a race the next, either. (; (If you didn't follow what I was trying to say in the last few sentences, don't worry about it. I just had to get the last word in with Geof.)

The kids and I froze and never actually saw Geof. running. I told them to look at any of the bald guys running and imagine them to be daddy. It kinda worked. I got lost on my path from the starting point to the end and I guess Geof. finished way before I even got there (there was over 30,000 runners, so a lot of different starting times). Poor Geof. waited at our meeting place for well over what, 40 minutes? wet from sweat and freezing from the wind gushing all around him (he said it was like a tunnel-our meeting place). All in all, it was good to get out. It's always good to get out when Spring is in the air.

-I added a disgruntled pic of myself (no, I really wasn't that unhappy. Just thought I looked so in the pic), and a few others of the houses near where the race occurred. Golly, we'd love to purchase one of these homes..

Women at the Well

After about 3 months of planning, our ward finally put on the musical presentation, "Women at the Well". It turned out really nice. I was very grateful for the sisters in the ward who agreed to help with not much notice at all (lighting, slideshow, sound system, etc.). It was a lot of work, but something I would love to do again. "Women at the Well" is a little over (or under?) and hour long production written by Kenneth Cope, depicting Christ's life through the eyes of the women that knew him. I really am happy we were able to do it for the sisters in our ward. I almost want to do it again since it was so much work.

It's also so great to sing again! I'm just starting to feel confident enough to sing in front of people and maybe even smile a bit, move my arms, maybe even do a little jig while singing...or not. Never was one to sing and dance. Maybe someday?

-Turns out I WILL be having surgery on my knee. Still can't straighten it. Went into see a ortho surgeon yesterday (June had diarrhea 3 times while in the waiting room, btw. So gross!) and he believes I have either a torn or a flipped meniscus (or both?) so I'll have a minor outpatient surgery done on April 14th. Hallelujah. I was beginning to feel like I'd never have full use of this right leg again.

To love or not to love my home..

I want to take every piece of furnishing and decor from my home and throw it away. I'm past the point of really caring about owning a home. I don't mind renting as much. However, renting a smelly old home that has filthy carpeting and broken tiles in the kitchen (not too mention so many other aging house issues...) has really gotten to me. I was just wasting some time reading this post on this blog and couldn't help but feel a little discouraged. Maybe in my spare time this weekend I'll take down all my dark frames from my brown and gold room and try something completely new. Oh, how I love color. I've always used the, "It's not in the budget" excuse for not decorating my "rentals". Gotta stop doing that..

(side note: I WILL be going in to get an MRI on my knee. Still can't straighten it out completely. Hope to have some news of what's going on!!)

What a little sun will do to ya..

My girls have Spring fever. Mid morning they came in the bathroom modeling Dayne's summer dresses and mom's flower clips in their hair. We took Dayne in today to get a water proof cast (after the non-water proof one proved to be too nasty for my taste when Dayne wet the bed (and her cast) and there was nothing I could do about it). When I was at "Wicked" last Thursday night and Geof. was trying to babysit/get some work done, Dayne climbed up into her window (like she always does) and fell off, rolling her ankle. They thinks its a cracked growth plate.

Fun.

No, not fun at all!

And my knee isn't healed! We're quite the pair.

As soon as we came home from recasting her, she and June grabbed their swimsuits and ran out to the trampoline. At this very moment Dayne keeps filling up her tiny plastic IKEA cup full of water and throwing it on the tramp. Too bad we don't have a sprinkler...

p.s. Does Dayne not look 16 and gorgeous? Not that I want her to look that old (at all!!), but sometimes I see her as a beautiful teenager and it scares the cr*p outta me.

p.p.s. The doctor said it was fine that she walk (jump?) on it. Yes, I know she's crazy, though.

Happy 30th Georgie

Took Geof. (and our friend Brent) to see John Mayer last night. The company was great. Hilarious, actually. We laughed, and sang and danced, and although John's performance was very mediocre, it was still a good time. So fun to be with Geof. and feel calm and relaxed. Happy 30th to you, Geof.

I need peace

"For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work..But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy....And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace." James 3: 16-18

I'm in love with the sun

We can go outside!! How happy that makes us. Geof. is happiest of all, I believe. Today he got out of the shower and said, "I can't tell you how good it feels to put a t-shirt on, no socks, and to not freeze in our house!" I agree. We went to the river before church on Sunday. Other than the warmer weather, the trees are still bare and it doesn't look at all like Spring. I give it a few weeks. Cole was begging to swim in our beloved James. We wish that river was right in our back yard (except for the nasty mosquitos it would attract). Geof. turns 30 on St. Patty's Day, I'm going to Wicked on Thursday, my cousin Kambria flew out from SF and we had a nice visit on Sat., and my knee is actually starting to feel a little more like I could actually run (or bike, or walk, or even jump) again! Our Dr. friend said hopefully within 3-4 weeks I'll feel good again. I don't think I'll be able to run the 10K I'd signed up for at the end of the month, though. ):

I've been to two deep water aerobic classes at the gym. I'm by far the youngest member, but who knew you could really get your heart rate up doing those classes? I really like it. I'll definitely try and continue doing it even after my knee is better. The old ladies I swim with are really sweet, too.
They're very encouraging.

Cole is hating school. Sometimes I read my girl friend's blogs who have girls, and they go on and on about how much their girls love school. Is it a girl thing? Cole can't stand it. It's a fight almost everyday to get him there. However, I didn't like the thought of going to school, either (that I can remember). He feels happy when he comes home. Is that a good sign? On Thurday, though, he came home with a nasty bump on his head and a raw scratched up face. I guess during recess he and a girl had collided (causing the goose egg on his forehead), and when he was running home he was turned around yelling at the kid chasing him (no worries, a friend) and ran right into a tree! When he told me (sobbingly..not a word), I showed concern and empathy, but I couldn't help the grin forming on my face. Made Cole laugh a little, too. Poor guy. So, I do think I'll try homeschooling next year if he still hates it. I think what bugs me most about his school is that after being gone for what, almost 7 hours a day?...he STILL comes home with homework. Not a lot, but more than he should. He's seven years old, for heaven's sakes! Good grief.

We'll see how Dayne does. She still loves reading to herself and seems to enjoy learning more. I think Kindergarten will be so fun for her (since she hasn't even done any preschool).

And Cole? Cole loves light sabers. He's a pro Jedi now, and I need to take that more seriously. (;
I was sitting in Math class tonight thinking about how I can focus more on Cole's strengths and interests. His strengths and interests have been and always will be his agility, and his ABility to MOVE! I gotta buy him a light saber. He found a perfect stick that he's been using for the last 2 weeks instead. He LOVES it. He puts it in the same spot every night and doesn't want anyone else touching it. And throughout the day I can see him moving his arms in all directions as if using it (even during class..I know, because I volunteered to come in last week.). That child is special.

What do they know that we don't?

My grandpa would have been 100 years old yesterday..if he hadn't of died 15 years ago. ): What a sweet man he was. My memory is limited, but I won't forget the wet kisses we got from Grandpa everytime we came to visit. Nor will I forget the scratchy mustache and how I always tried to avoidthe kisses because his mustache was so itchy, but I couldn't resist a kiss from my wonderful Gpa. He didn't talk much, played the harmonica like an expert (there are experts in the harmonica playing field, right?), and loved his baseball (never went to Gma and Gpa's without a baseball game on).

This video is not of Gpa, but of the crazy, CRAZY birds we had in our yard yesterday. This isn't the first time we've had a strange case of Alred Hitchcock's, "The Birds" like behavior; it seems like whenever the weather is colder, or changing, or a storm's abrewing (word?), the birds go nuts! And there's a TON of them. If my computer wasn't telling me, once again, that I've "exceeded my picture limit", I'd post the pics that I took as well. There were well over...well, I won't give you a number cuz I have no idea. Just imagine A LOT! (; Now I sound like one of my kids.
