February

How'd I survive Alaska winters (see above pic)?? I'm just starting to feel better after more than a week of nausea, cold, aches, and more sleep than a mother of 3 should ever be allotted (three hour naps EVERY DAY??). It's been a difficult week.

Question (and I want some sincere answers): How do you get through winter?

Ohhhhh, I'm so sorry to hear that you were that sick, D! Miserable. I don't know how to answer the "how do you get through winter" question. Each winter day can be so different in CO, we just take it as it comes and enjoy it. I hear that Feb. 3rd marks the half way point, we are on the downhill slide to Spring!!

Yuck! And this is a funny question to ask for me...winter is a beast up here. I love the anchorage picture, don't you wish you still lived there? ;0 We'll probably be down there in a few weeks to go to the temple, every time we're there I think of you! And the pictures of AK winters are always so idyllic and wonderlandish, we both know however that the reality is NOT! I wish you a speedy recovery, 3 hour naps for every mom I say!

pretty much other year, winter sucks for me. I get depressed, i get sick, etc. So my tricks are:
a. lots of fun baking
b. grow plants in your home - i like herbs--or get some fresh flowers every once in a while
c. A cool blue light my Dad gave me that wakes me up in the morning and sends happy signals to my brain...?
d. Go out when you can--enrichment, window shopping, visit neighbors/friends.
e. Take an extra few minutes before you get out of bed to think positive- count your blessings, choose something fun to do that day, snuggle with the kiddos, etc.

So far this winter has been pretty great so i think its all working :)

I struggle also. The times that are better than others are when I do projects around the house to improve it. ie. wash and organize the toys, rearrange furniture, move around decorations. When I am working on projects, it keeps my mind busy. It is also a good time to start early spring cleaning. I like the ideas others gave too. I am going to try to be more positive.
ps. another thing
I do is plan up coming things like what to plant in the garden, what to spend the tax return on, what fun things we could do this summer etc.

Living in Utah with no sun and smog, well that's what I get told. To tell you the truth I don't even notice it! I just don't look out too far. That can be a good thing and a bad thing! Sorry your were sick!

Well apparetly my answer is to get pregnant in the winter and be so sick that you don't want to leave the couch to go outside and I feel less guilty about it. If it was nice I would feel bad for letting my kids watch so many movies and color on ANYTHING. Its not a great fix but it's working for me brilliantly :)
